We are Scientists!!!

Science has started! After spending the first half of the quarter with Social Studies, we are now moving on to SCIENCE. What is a scientist?

We've started our Comparing & Measurement unit and the kids are loooooooving it!

We started by comparing ourselves with a partner. What do we notice that is the same? What is different?

Then we moved on to comparing our heighths with a partner...

And then we compared our heighths with the whole table.

Ask your child if he/she was taller or shorter than someone. Who was the tallest at their table? Who was the shortest?

And here is proof that Esli helps me make my peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch...

We work hard...

And we play hard!!!

Take a look at these first graders working hard in Daily 5 and Math! Then take a look to see how we rest our brains and have fun!!!

And a hand-picked bouquet of wildflowers from my very own students! Life is sweet!

Schema!

What's your schema on schema?!

We know that SCHEMA is what you already know about something... Whether you learned it from books or movies or pictures or real life experiences! Schema is like a file of information you have on a topic... in your brain!

We had some pretty good schema about chameleons... And after we read a book about chameleons... Our schema GREW!!!

Check it out...
